Heat relief drive
One day, I was riding with my sister on her way to summer dance workshop class, while I was getting ready to be dropped off for my volunteer work. At a traffic light, we noticed a man standing in the scorching sun, without a cap or water, asking for help. My sister and I looked at each other sadly.
Noticing our faces, my mom parked near a grocery store. She bought some fruits and bottled water and encouraged us to give them to him.

We both felt deeply moved by that moment. The very next morning, I told my mom, “I want to collect some caps and water bottles and donate them to people in need.” My sister added umbrellas and sunscreen, and my mom suggested including reusable water bottles along with bottled water.

I created a flyer, collected boxes from our garage, printed and glued the flyers onto them, and placed the boxes at temples and friends’ homes to collect donations.
What happened next was truly heartwarming. People poured their blessings and generously supported our effort. We received bulk donations of steel water bottles, bottled water, sunscreen packets and bottles, caps, bags, and umbrellas. We both packed 61 Heat Relief Bags, along with extra 135 additional bottles of water and 34 caps.
With the guidance and suggestion of Ms. Jenna Davis from Banner Health Volunteer Services, I reached out to Desert Mission Food Bank, and my sister and I were able to distribute the collected Heat Relief Bags of essential heat relief supplies to people in need on 08/24/2026. A special thanks to Desert Mission for helping my sister and me distribute the Heat Relief Bags. We feel truly blessed to have their support in making this small effort reach those who need it most.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who supported this drive and helped turn a simple idea into a meaningful community effort. I am thankful to my parents for encouraging my sister and me to experience the true bliss
and satisfaction that comes from giving. ❤️
