Our Yoga Journey - Learning and Sharing

We are filled with gratitude and happiness to share a very special milestone in our journey with Yoga. My sister, Harini and I have successfully completed our Yoga certification examinations and received certification through the Yoga Certification Board (YCB), established by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.

Harini - Certified Yoga Protocol Instructor

Jagannath Ram - Certified Yoga Teacher & Evaluator

For us, this achievement is much more than receiving a certificate. Yoga is one of India’s timeless gifts to humanity, carrying thousands of years of wisdom, philosophy, discipline and spiritual tradition.

To be certified through a structured national certification system established by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, is a moment of great pride and gratitude. It also brings with it a deeper sense of responsibility to respect the tradition, continue learning, and share Yoga with sincerity and care.

Our studies went far beyond learning Yoga postures.

We explored the Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads, Patanjali Yoga Sutras and Hatha Yoga traditions, along with anatomy, physiology, psychology, health and wellness, stress management and the holistic dimensions of Yoga.

We also studied human anatomy and physiology, psychology, mental well-being, health and wellness, lifestyle, disease prevention, and the role of Yoga in physical, mental, social and spiritual well-being.

The practical learning was equally comprehensive. We worked on Sukshma Vyayama, Surya Namaskarams, numerous Yogasanas, breathing practices, Pranayama, Bandhas, Mudras, Yoga Nidra, meditation and Dhyana.

The training included lesson planning, teaching individuals and groups, communication and presentation skills, class management, precautions and contraindications, assessment, evaluation, and recognizing and correcting mistakes.

We approached this learning with great dedication, discipline and curiosity, understanding not only how a practice is performed, but also why it is practiced and how it can be thoughtfully shared with different groups of people.

This journey has deepened our respect for the wisdom of Yoga and strengthened our desire to continue learning. Through Still Waters Wisdom, we hope to share the joy and wisdom of Yoga with children, adults and seniors through movement, breathing, relaxation, meditation and moments of stillness.

Our greatest fulfillment comes from turning what we learn into service to our community.

We are deeply grateful for this opportunity to learn from the rich heritage of Yoga and to continue this journey of learning, practicing, teaching and serving.

one of my favorite shlokas from Bhagavadgeeta:

योगस्थः कुरु कर्माणि सङ्गं त्यक्त्वा धनञ्जय । सिद्ध्यसिद्ध्योः समो भूत्वा समत्वं योग उच्यते ॥
Established in Yoga, perform your actions, abandoning attachment to the outcome. Remain balanced in success and failure; such equanimity is called Yoga.
We apply the essence of this slokam for learning and serving others with compassion, gratitude, and selflessness.

May Yoga bring greater health, happiness, balance and peace into the lives of everyone we have the privilege to serve.

With gratitude,

Jagan Ram & Harini
